Shanghai China
Shanghai China is a place you really should visit when you are in China. I prefer Shanghai to the noisier and busier Beijing and in this article I'm going to introduce you to some of the wonderful attractions in Shanghai that you might consider visiting on your vacation.
I recommend paying a visit to the Yuyuan Gardens for a taste of Imperial China. It is quite touristy however the buildings are lovely and there are some great photographic opportunities. The Longhua Temple is another must see and is worth the effort of getting to. Another popular temple is the Jade Buddha Temple but this is generally much busier than the Longhua Temple.
Shanghai is such a big city so your chosen activities may depend upon where you are staying and what transport you have available to you. The Oriental Pearl TV Tower is an interesting concept and you can take an elevator to the top. It is Asia's tallest TV tower and as you can imagine, the views are awesome from the top.
The Shanghai Zoo is much better than the Beijing Zoo in terms of the quality of animal enclosures. In fact some avid animal lovers may cringe at some of the restrictive Beijing Zoo enclosures. I recommend the Shanghai Zoo instead where you'll see the native giant pandas among other beautiful animals.
Shanghai Xintiandi is a rebuilt area in the city. It contains replicated stone gate houses. There are also cinemas here, a mall, bars, cafes and art galleries. Yes this is a tourist center however the locals also enjoy it. It gives you a taste of the city life in Shanghai.
